More “Fresh Faces” at The Next Wave

With so much talent in the building at The Next Wave we had to put out another installment of "Fresh Faces" These are a few prospects who are a bit under the radar in the Metroplex.


2020 6'2 G Kobe Jones (Frisco)- Kobe had his smooth jump shot on display the entire camp. He's a strong guard with a tight handle that can really stroke the three off the bounce and make good reads in pick and roll situations. Kobe is a plus defender as well. Top 40 Game All-Star participant.

2020 5'10 G Obi Onyia (Sachse)-  Obi is a quick guard who can really get into the lane. He hit floaters once in the paint and showed off a nice mid range game as well. Obi is jet quick and can really score the basketball.

2020 6'7 Daryl Brown (Jesuit)- Daryl was very aggressive in camp. He rebounded and played more physical around the basket than we've seen him in the past. He scored over both shoulders with aggressive post moves and showed the ability to step out and make the three ball. Top 40 All-Star Game participant.

2020 6'0 G Emerson Wallace (Red Oak)- Emerson asserted himself quickly by playing good defense and shooting the ball well. Emerson is a high IQ player who is unselfish, defends, can run the offense and make open three's.

2020 6'3 G Drake Muller (Greenhill)- Drake continues to grow and might be closer to 6'4 than he is 6'3. He is a versatile guard who gets a lot done. He defends, scores, shoots it and is a very good passer. High academic prospect as well.

2021 6'8 F Dametrious Crownover (Grandview)- Demarcus has a chance to be one of the best big men in the state in 2021. The 6'8 post player has soft hands and is very light on his feet. He carves out space with his big body and has the ability to bury defenders under the basket when he seals them. Demarcus is definitely a prospect to track as he possesses a college basketball frame right now to go along with his skill set.

2020 6'4 G Preston Lawerence (Lake Highlands)- Preston really shot the ball well at the camp. He rebounds his position very well and is a really good athlete. Preston is a tough competitor who does whatever it takes for his team to win games. Top 40 All-Star Game participant.

2020 6'5 Wing Skyler Stutts (Rockwall Heath)- Skyler had it rolling at camp Saturday. He made shots, rebounded and got out in transition and finished above the rim. Skyler has a strong body and gets a lot of things done while on the floor. He's continued to add to his game since the summer. Top 40 All-Star Game participant.

2020 6'1 G Latrell Jossell (Keller Central) - Latrell was excellent in the camp. He is a big time scorer who can really shoot the ball from all over the floor. He showed some big time athleticism finishing a lob in transition. His toughness and bucket getter mentality served him well. I expect him to have a huge year at Keller Central. Top 40 All-Star Game participant.

2020 6'2 G Eyan Gooden (Duncanville) - Eyan is a flat out marksmen. He can really shoot the three ball off the catch. He did that at a high level and also displayed the ability to get to and finish at the rim.

2021 6'0 G Jerome Rogers (Madison) - Jerome has grown about 2 inches since I saw him in July. The young prospect knows how to facilitate and score the basketball. He excels in pick and roll and has deep range on his jumper.

The Next Wave “Fresh Faces”

The Next Wave Camp took place this past Saturday at The MAC and had over 90 prospects in attendance.  There were some "fresh faces" in the crowd that left a mark on media members and coaches. These prospects took full advantage of their opportunity.

2020 6'2 G Isaiah Jones (Heritage Christian) Isaiah was in attack mode from the tip until the end of camp. A dynamic scoring guard who possesses big time athleticism. He went down after his first game with a rolled ankle and displayed his toughness by continuing to compete and play at a high level. Isaiah was a Top 40 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 6'1 G Jalen Guinn (Arlington Martin)- Jalen erupted for  camp high game of 32 points in his final camp contest. The sweet shooting sophomore had his deep range and accuracy from three on display all day long. Jalen is a tough kid who plays hard every possession. Jalen was a Top 40 All-Star Game Selection.

2021 5'11 G Skyler McCurry (Argyle Liberty Christian)- Skyler was very efficient getting to his spots and making plays for himself and others. He's a strong built guard who can shoot it and really get into the lane.

2021 6'7 Wing Alec Zambie (Plano West)- Alec was a pleasant surprise. Very long and skilled prospect who is very versatile offensively. He showed a solid handle and the ability to make plays for himself and others. He is a big time long-term prospect.

2021 6'2 G Gavin Perryman (Jesuit)- Gavin made plays for himself and others. He is a big time scoring threat who plays with poise and pace. A dream to coach as he just focuses on making winning plays.

2020 6'5 F Domani Villaruel (Newman Smith)- Domani played with a motor and passion all day Saturday. A mismatch combo forward that gets a lot done from 15 feet and in. He was consistently productive the entire camp. Domani was a Top 40 All-Star Game Selection.

2020 6'1 G Jaden Wells (LD Bell)- Jaden was one of the top 3 three point shooters in the camp. He flat out doesn't miss when his feet are set. He showed the ability to be a primary ball handler and a big time shot maker. Jaden was a Top 40 All-Star Game Selection

2022 6'2 G Nazir Brown (LD Bell)- At first glance Nazir looks like an upperclassmen with his body, poise and the pace he plays with. The more you watch him the more you can't believe this prospect is just entering his freshman year. Nazir looks the part of a big time scoring guard who down the road. He is definitely one to track.

2020 6'7 F Ben Joelson (Colleyville Heritage)- Ben is a versatile offensive prospect who can really shoot the ball. He has sneaky athleticism and will mix it up in the paint for rebounds. Ben was a Top 40 All-Star Game Selection.

2020 5'9 G BJ Francis (Duncanville)- Francis is a cerebral point guard who understands how to get his teammates involved and score as well. He breaks opponents down off the dribble to create easy baskets for teammates and his own scoring opportunities.

2020 5'10 G JB Hill (Duncanville)- JB was a nice find on Saturday. He is a strong and quick guard who can really  get into the lane and excels on defense.

2020 6'3 G Cameron Johnson (Lincoln)- Cameron scored the ball all day in camp.. The strong guard was punishing defenders with his body and also made some big time pull up jump shots in the mid range.

2020 6'3 G Tayton Conerway (Burleson Centennial)- Tayton is a scoring guard who can shoot it and really get out in transition and finish. His long arms and lateral quickness allow him to excel on the defensive side when locked in.

2020 5'11 G Danny Sommerhalder (Southlake Carroll) - Danny is a strong guard with a tight handle and a deadly jumper. He was good off the bounce and scored the ball efficiently.

2020 6'7 F  Jarron Quarles (Weatherford)- Jarron showed off his versatility as prospect all day. He is a long and wiry combo forward who can defend multiple positions and score from different spots on the floor. Jarron is only beginning to scratch the surface of his potential and should be tracked closely during the high school season.
